Voyage of the Lonely Sea Turtle

Click on link below to see information on PBS Documentary

This documentary tells the story of a (female) Loggerhead Sea Turtle on a 9,000 mile passage across the Pacific Ocean, from the west coast of Mexico to Japan. The Pacific Ocean is 1/3 the size of the whole planet. The Sea Turtle travels the massive 1 million square miles of ocean, at a very slow pace, with the constant threat of predators. It takes her 370 days and 9,100 miles to get to her destination to the beach where she was hatched 30 years ago. She is compelled to return to this Island in Japan to lay her eggs -- like her mother, grandmother and great grandmother did before her. Instinct guided her as well as something called magnetic mapping.

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle’s journey is incredible!
